Socrates and the sophists

What is naturalism ? well for the ancient Greece it was to study nature. as it´s name implies. But who practiced it, well the Greece and more specifically the sophists. who the heck are the sophists ? well they are wise-men sophós meaning "wise-ist", one who "does" wisdom, more commonly know as the sophists. So these guys were the wise men of ancient Greece and the had knowledge and they gave classes and the classes cost money, Greece money.

But then came Socrates. Who was against the sophist who charged for work but he worked for free he talked i n the street for free. people didn´t like it, and by people i mean the sophists. It´s like open source software, as good as the paid stuff but free. Socrates was the ubuntu of his time he, mocked windows (sophists) saying stuff like they were un stable and full of bugs, weren't right in the way they tough, and it should be free. And full of feed back and interaction. The sophists like Microsoft didn´t like this.

But is it good that it was free, is it good that he died because it was free, what is good to begin with? anyhow Socrates was cool.

Dear Philosorapator what is Philosophy ?

They say that Philosophy is the study of making problems not solving them, so lets say that i have a small problem deciding between 2 different colors of socks, Philosophy is the study of making problems, so logic would dictate that while i´m deciding between the 2 colors of socks i´m "making Philosophy "? so to speak. One would think so. Because, i´m evaluating the 2 thinking one is wool and one is cotton, and making more problems, i think of their application and what i would use each sock for and the cost. But Philosophy dosent solve my problems, it just makes more so it´s up to science to solve problems, how would science solve this one? having a doctor tell me i´m allergic to wool.


So everyone dose Philosophy, basic. Philosophy dossen´t solve problems it creates them and lets others solve them (shitty thing to do but alright). science solves problems. And Philosophy comes from the Greek φιλοσοφία [philosophia], which literally translates to "love of wisdom". We all think we, all have thought, and becouse of that we are human, each and every one of us, in all shapes and sizes, countrys and nacions, we all think therfore we make Philosophy
